IELTS General Reading is a sub-test of the IELTS exam that assesses the reading comprehension skills of non-native English speakers. It measures the ability to understand texts written in English in everyday and workplace contexts. The General Reading test consists of three passages with increasing difficulty and 40 questions to be answered in 60 minutes. The texts may include articles, reports, letters, or notices, and may be taken from magazines, newspapers, or books. The test is designed to evaluate a candidate’s ability to understand main ideas, details, inferences, opinions, and attitudes.
