A friend from another country is moving to your city for work. He / she has asked you for advice about living in your city.
Write a letter to your friend. In your letter
- suggest an interesting part of the city to live in
- describe the public transport in your city
- say how your friend can meet new people there

Dear Janet,
It’s very exciting to hear that you’ll be moving to Coimbatore and congratulations on your new job!
As you’ll probably be working in the city centre, perhaps you could think about living near me at R.S.Puram. It’s at the heart of Coimbatore with great access to all facilities. There are people here from all over the world and it has a friendly, relaxed vibe.
In terms of public transport, you can get around the city by bus and taxi. The railway station and airport are close by. You can enjoy the evenings doing shopping and dining. Public transport is pretty crowded in the mornings but no worse than in Chennai or Bangalore!
I’ll introduce you to my friends and I’m sure you’ll meet people at work too. You could try living in a shared house if you want to meet some locals.
Anyway, I can’t wait to see you.

How have you been doing since we last met! I am excited that you are moving to Halifax for work.
As your office location Downtown duke Street is very near to my apartment you can drop in at my place itself, as we have one vacant sharing room in our 2 Bedroom condo at Robbie Street. I know you love practicing shuttle daily to your surprise Halifax common stadium is just opposite to the house. Grocery shops, walk-in clinics and Gym are only 500 metros away from our place.
To roam around the city for fun activities we have very cheap public transportation like buses and casino taxis. You can even get a worker pass with tax exemption from your office to free tickets. Once you join the sports club for shuttle in Halifax common you can meet a lot of people there with common interests. Adding to that will introduce you to my other friend in our shared house as well.
