ONE WORD SUBSTITUTION

In verbal ability, one word substitution refers to a type of question that requires you to replace a group of words with a single word that has the same or a similar meaning. This type of question tests your ability to understand and use vocabulary in context.

For example, instead of saying a person who travels on foot, the one word substitution would be pedestrian. Similarly, instead of saying a person who writes under a pseudonym, the one word substitution would be pseudonym.

One word substitution questions may also be used to test your knowledge of idiomatic expressions and other figurative language. For example, instead of saying the act of being overly talkative, the one word substitution would be verbosity.

One word substitution questions are commonly used in many standardized tests and competitive exams.
